working hard for

Grande Prairie

An Open City Hall.

Focus On the Boring Stuff.

Affordability. Community. Safety.

Those are some of my priorities.

I believe in transparency and conversation, which is why I’ve published a full platform.

To support my work on Council, I bring a wide range of experience. I spent over fifteen years as a non-profit director running youth programs and a very large summer camp. I am a small business owner who has been in a variety of industries. I have served as a Board member (and Audit/Finance Chair) for the Alberta Municipal Services Corporation. I’m Vice-President of Alberta Municipalities, which allows me to get a deep understanding about how cities across the province are being run. I’m also a community volunteer who has helped as a founder and builder or many local organisations. In all of these roles, collaboration, hard work, and community service have been key to everything I do.

Throughout this page, you will find more information about who I am, why I am running for Grande Prairie City Council, and what I hope to get done. Thanks for getting informed this election!

LEADERSHIP & IMPACT

Having a positive impact on our community has always been the focus of my work and volunteer time.

WORKING HARD FOR YOU

I’ve spent eight years working for the residents of Grande Prairie. Attending Council meetings, reading briefings, and communicating with our community is just part of the job. I have also represented the City on a number of Boards and Committees while going the extra mile to engage with residents online and in the community.

Three Sector Experience

I have professional experience in the public, non-profit, and private sectors. I don’t just serve on Council but I also own small businesses and spent over a decade working for a non-profit. I strongly believe in building our community both on and off the clock. In my freetime, I have volunteered for a number of local non-profits.

provincial work

A significant focus of my last Council term was serving as Vice President at Alberta Municipalities. In this role, I get to spend my time advocating for local communities across our province. I get to gather ideas and best practices to bring back home. And I get to be a part of shaping important corporate services used by the City and local non-profits.

Why I’m Running

I’m one of those many people who moved to Grande Prairie “just for a few years.” I came just for a job, but it didn’t take me long to set down roots. I’ve had children, made friends, run youth programs, founded a disc golf club, volunteered on boards, and started businesses. Along the way, I’ve come to love this place.

I’m so thankful for the opportunities Grande Prairie has given to my family and me. In everything I do, I seek to build those same opportunities for others. Some are looking for economic opportunity. Some want to experience more of recreation, culture or nature. Some are hoping to start new friendships or get involved in community organisations. And some are on hardtimes so need a hand up. Wherever our residents are at, I want everyone to have to be able to build an amazing life in our community.

I also want all residents to have the opportunity to shape Grande Prairie. I invest time showing up to community events, engaging online, and meeting for coffees to hear about your experiences and ideas. I also continuously advocate for both Council and City Administration to enhance communication and engagement. I want to continue the work of making it easier to know about and have input into the conversations at City Hall.

Serving on City Council has been a tremendous privilege. I hope you will trust me continue taking part in this work. Let’s work hard together to connect with our community and build a fantastic Grande Prairie.
